I have a silver st and i want to paint my grille. How do i exactly do that, like what kind of paint do i use, an what is the best method?

thanks,

Brian

Check the projects section, there's a project on removing and painting the grille.

The best paint is anythign really...as long as you prep well enough for the paint o stick.

I think the honeycomb grille on the trac would be extremely difficult to paint. It would be near impossible to get even coverage, and I am not sure if anyone here has done it. You would have to use high temp paint though.

Last i knew Jeff had removed his grill completely.....:D

There was a guy with a red grill.....

I would remove it, Clean it with plastic parts cleaner, (NOT soap or simple green ETC)

Spray with plastic paint in the color you want. You could prime and clear if desired..

Yes Jeff now has his grille completely removed, but at one time it was the stock one that was painted silver. Here's a post confirming it, but he must have deleted the picture from his library because I'm getting a red X.

John, Are there pictures of an ST in your library?

I couldn't get past the SpurrierChicks. Hubba Bubba Ye Owl

I had, I'm not claiming to be the first person to do it, but one of at least.

The trick is spraying BOTH sides of the grille from all four directions, top, bottom, left, and right. It doesn't take much paint, just a good even coverage area.

I have my stock one painted silver but I only did it since I removed it to install my homemade grill just incase I didn't like the one I made. It came out nice but it is just sitting in the shed.
