Depress the parking brake. Release the parking brake. Before lifting the parking brake control with your foot look under the truck and see it the cable is tight or if it has slack in it. If it has no slack in it then the cable may be binding internally or there may be an issue inside the rear brake assembly. You can pull on the cable by hand and see how freely it moves. There's a clock type spring in the actuator but I've never seen one go bad. Make sure the floor mat or something else in not hampering the movement of the cable inside the truck.

Item Part Number Description

1 2780 Parking brake control

2 2A635 Parking brake rear cable and conduit (RH)

3 2A809 Parking brake rear cable and conduit (LH)

4 2A793 Parking brake intermediate cable

5 2853 Front parking brake cable and conduit

The parking brake system is actuated when the parking brake control (2780) is depressed. The parking brake control applies tension to the front parking brake cable and conduit (2853), the parking brake intermediate cable (2A793), and the parking brake cable equalizer (2A602). The parking brake cable equalizer is coupled to the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit (2A635), and the LH parking brake rear cable and conduit (2A809). The respective rear brake assemblies are then applied.
