I have noticed and it has be very annoying that the brake pedal and the gas pedal are not the same height and is a pain to lift up all the time to get to the brake.

its as if I put my foot on the gas pedal and without pushing down, the drake pedal is at the top of my foot that is on the gas. So to get to the brake I really have to lift up.

Any way to adjust?

Are you really serious about this question? I've never driven a vehicle where gas and brake pedal were flush with one another. Always have to take foot off gas and put on brake pedal.

I think they are that way on purpose. Did you ever hear of an accident happening because the driver stepped on the gas instead of the brake, happens a lot. Just a thought, Gary

I know they arent exactly the same, but got in my moms avalon and it is no way near as bad. I have had my foot go under the brake after having the gas down. not good if I cant hit the brake if my foot is snagged under it

It's intentional so that those of us with big feet and maybe wide boots as well don't mash both at the same time. When I drive my car, a stick, I have to consciously move my boot far enough left so I don't push the gas at the same time as the brake - but the pedals are less than two inches apart.

I am not 100% sure on the ST, but my Taurus will pump up the ABS if it senses the brake pedal getting too low. May not be easy to adjust.

grump

I had a sentra rental that they were even on, and tiny pedals at that. I hit the brake... but it was the gas. Luckily I reacted quickly, pulled my foot off whatever pedal I hit, and pulled the e-brake as I found the brake pedal, since while my foot was stumbling for the brake pedal, I hit the gas again.

To even the brake and gas pedal, you could put a block of wood on the gas pedal the same thickness at the brake pedal is above the gas pedal. That would solve your problem.

Tom

p.s. I can not beleve this is a serious question. The dealer Theresa works at has a used Avalon, I will see if the pedals are even. If they aren't, you mother might need to get her brakes looked at.

"I know they arent exactly the same, but got in my moms avalon and it is no way near as bad."

don't look to see if the pedals are even...that is not what I said. So don't be a fool and come back saying they aren't even.

I know there should be a difference but this is a big difference and annoying to me. all I asked is if there was a way to adjust pedals.

Geez

Pedals are not adjustable so don't even try. You can raise the gas pedal a bit by using the "zip tie, take out the slack" mod that has been detailed on this site.

thanks for the answer bill-e

they are not adjustable..so I can not adjust and will not try.

sorry for asking here...I have a problem and tried to fix it, but I guess I cannot and will have to live with it

OK Idiots

I have been polite and taken your crap for many posts now

i dont see it as a silly post to want to have my pedal a little more up

NOT FREAKING EVEN

MY FOOT IS SO FAR DOWN IT WILL GET CAUGHT BEHIND THE BRAKE when I go up and left, but go a little left first(if I out my foot on the gas without pressing down I can go left with my foor and go under the brake, which I don't like and I think should be raised a bit). and it hurts my hip form having to lift up all the time(especially with the little leg support the seat give to me). I drive for most of my living in stop and go traffic and maybe you guys don't notice it. I DO AND I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE UP A LITTLE MORE.

ARE YOU THAT INGNORANT

do you guy shave nothing better to do than try to flame someone for having a problem and misreading what they have said

sorry but I can not and will not me misread and be called a fool or silly.

Just tell me there is no adjustment

v ro,

Calm down dude.

It's a legitimate gripe, even if other folks don't think so, that's there opinion.

I've had my toe caught under the brake before, so I know what you're talking about.

And BTW, I do shave :D
