I have ordered a product called "forever black". My question is the plastic on the outside (bumpers etc.) on my 2005 ST. It appears to be grayish in color. Is it really black and just fadded? Has anyone ever tried this product?

The '05 and maybe '04 cladding was darker than the earlier models which were gray.

I used to have an '05 Trac. The flares and cladding were dark gray but not black. Try Mother's Back To Black first. The stuff is white, not black, but does a nice job restoring color. The flares on my daughter's Jeep, which are supposed to be black, were hopelessly faded and all the Back To Black in the world wouldn't help. On the advice of another local Jeeper I painted them with Krylon Fusion which is made for painting plastic. So far it's holding up real well.

I used it on the rubber around the windows and it worked great. One not of caution, it you apply it where you don't want it remove it quickly per directions or it may stain.
