I've had my fight with a deadly/aggressive cancer too. Last year I was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Basically a blood cancer/cancer of the lymph glands. I had a mass the size of a fist in the middle of my chest. They started me immediately on a strong chemo treatment (R_CHOP) for 6 months. They implanted a port in my upper chest that runs a line into my heart so the chemo would go straight in without ruining my arm veins etc. In other words no fun, but necessary. I lost all my body hair, had to be hospitalized a few times for my low immune system, and had to fight blood sugars of 500 when they gave me steroids.
My cancer responded well to Chemo & I have been in remission for a year. I have an all day chemo session every 2 months now (until 2013) and i get ct scans every 3 months. I am a lucky one (without treatment I would have died months ago) and feel the pain of anyone that has to fight this terrible disease. But heck I'm 54 years old and things happen. But for a child to be stricken is just sad, very sad. I cant imagine what hell the parents are going through. I dont think I could handle it if it was one of my kids or grandkids, regardless of their age(s) I thank god everyday for my treatments and outcomes. Hopefully this little girl will have a positive outcome also...... BTW my cancer battle will wind up costing approx. 400,000 dollars (one infusion , Rituxin, alone is over 10,000 dollars each time) Thank god I was classified as disabled by the state of KS and they pay about 80% of my bill. Not only does a family have to deal with the disease, but it strains/breaks the finances too.
We will pray for the family--- remember there is hope.
