had engine light on during a drive to day sopped got the code read

p302 genaric mis fire

although i had just changed the plugs last week number 2and number 6 were the culprits so all got replaced so new plugs and wires......... plugs are now e3,53's and borg warner wires spiral ......no more codes

it does feel different and it seems to have a different sound and lower rpms at 45 mph and at 60

hope the gas milage shows a change for the better

I hope the E3 plugs work out for you, I seem to be pulling these things out of customers cars alot lately. Let us know how they are after about 10,000 miles.

Your rpms can't go down by changing the spark plugs unless they magically alter the laws of mathematics.

Your truck ran well over ten years until you hydro locked with the OEM plugs.

Just a coincidence that 2-6, and now 3 are throwing codes with E3 plugs?

Search this forum regarding aftermarket plugs, majority says use only OEM.

From your 2001 Sport Trac Owners Manual:

Spark plugs* AGSF-22PP (Motorcraft SP500)

Spark plug gap 1.3-1.4 mm (0.052-0.056 inch)

If you are saying you got misfire codes after new plugs and wires. I would suspect cylinder #2 has bad plug or cracked insulater. Not really understanding you.

The spiral core wires are a good move. I agree with Scott. I wouldnt waste my money on E-3 gimmic plugs.
