I'm considering one of the portable (hand held) radios like the Sirius Stilleto 2 or its XM counterpart.

My question is, the programs that are saved in the memory (2GB), can they be transfered to some other MP3 player or moved to a PC for storage?

The FAQ on the web sites say that after listened to, they will be overwriten when the next program is recorded, but can they be saved before that happens?

Thanks,

The XM portable radio can hold a lot of music and it only gets overwritten if you ask it to do so.

I would also wait to buy until the merger of the two companies gets completed so that you can buy one of the new units that can get both signals.

Steven K,

Is that merger a given? If so, what is the timeline expected to be?

I had heard rumors of that a while ago, but there was a thought that anti-trust legislation might make it impossible.

It looks like it is definately going through. Most of the big time legal issues have been oked. While it isn't offically happening definately, It looks like it will happen sometime in the first quarter of 2008.

What will this mean for those that just bought a new ford with sirius built into the oem HU? Will we be able to pick up XM stations also?

One way for sure is,,,, simply plug the ear phone jack into the microphone/record/and or RCA jack input of almost any device...

Works very well. Do it all the time if you can not do so via a USB.
