Radiator hose

I notice yesterday when doing the intake breather bypass project. The radiator hose has a wire mesh sleeve over it. The sleeve and hose was resting on the transmission dipstick. I noticed the mesh was wore through. I rotated the sleeve and moved the hose slightly up and ziptied it to the oil filler neck. Do you think this was okay? I'd hate to have the hose blow in that location. Should the hose be replaced anyway after so many years? My 77 grand prix blew one time. What a mess.

This is a common fault with many Tracs.



One simple solution is to pull the dipstick, slide a 12 inch long 3/4 drive extension into the tube at least 6 inches worth. Using the 6 inches in your hand pry the tube away from the hose. The tube mounting bracket will bend and your good to go...
