Is there a problem with the ST radios not getting strong signal?

I have an 03 ST and it seems that the signal stregnth is not as good as other cars I drive (meaning loosing radio signals earlier than in other cars)

and also my AM side really sucks compared to my FM side.

I am in Chicago, so it isn't like I am far away from radio stations

wouldn't it do it for both AM and FM at the same time?

the AM seems to be getting worse

Well if the plug came undone for some reason, it is possibly shaking further and further away, making it harder and harder for it to pick up the signal. I donno though, just a thought, it happened in my Volkswagen.

Is it the oem antenna? I once tried an after market stubby antenna and the reception sucked.

it is OEM never took it out.

how do I check the attenna

You have to remove the stereo and look at the back. You do not need to unplug anything, just get it pulled out and see if everything is still plugged in. If it is, then you may need a new stereo. If it is not, then your issue is solved, plug it back in and your golden (could also be a wire labeled antenna possibly, not for sure though). Good luck, keep us updated on what you find. :)

i posted about this a while back for my 01 job2

with the 6 disc changer stereo.

AM completely sucks and FM depends on the day

weather wise believe it or not.

i like to stereo so i may try a different antenna first

and see what happens.

I had my radio completely stop receiving any signals, I ended up having to replace the antenna wire. After the new wire was in I was holding the old wire and I found that some water had gotten into the wire. Just something you may want to look for.

P.S. the antenna wire is the fat orange one
