Rangers....What is the difference in....

(years 03 and 04) air intakes?



In the engine compartment, are they the same? are they different in some way?

Ford changed something between 03 and 04 on the 4.0 which makes the intakes between the years unswappable. I'm not sure what but it may be the MAF.

Ford probably made the MAF part if the air box like they did for the '07 4.0 in the trac. The only thing I can think of.

Thank you guys, I do appreciate the insight I knew it was the same engine as the ST and both years had the same engine on the Ranger. I bet you guys are right about that MAF. Funny how they tend to throw twists in certain years with same engines. Thanks again!
