Let me get this straight. The installer has to put a switch under the dash with a key to start the truck in it? Will it be accessable? So if I lose a key I would be able to start the truck with this "spare" key? Sorry so complicated. I'm just thinking if I can start it so can somebody else. Raserx:blink:

It's a key that goes in a box that is next to the steering wheel. I don't think you have to cut it, the chip inside is what you need to be there, so it will think your key is in the ignition.

This would be hidden under the dash, you never use in the ignition.

also, i just put the spare under the dash, and used the other original key, and had another one cut as a spare but didnt have a chip in it. so if i lost the orig key, i would start it by remote then turn it with that key.

The CompuStar unit that I put in didn't require a key under the dash!

Which compustar did you install because my Compustar required that I had the key in my steering column.
