I have my wheel and drum off so I can see if something is causing rubbing at very slow movement. Compressed air made it look like new. My question is, "How much play is normal in the shaft, forward/reverse and in/out." I didn't think the shaft should be able to move in and out?

I have the 4:10 limited slip rear end. Thanks.

In and out is normal. From experience an 1/8 of an inch is fine. If it gets to 1/4 of an inch then I'd be looking and the pinion assembly..

Thanks Coastiejoe. It is about an 1/8 of and inch. I've never dealt with drum brakes or axles. Inspecting them myself is saving $$$. Everything looks fine, especially after I blew everything out with the air.
