Looks like either the switch or motor went for the rear window of my '01.

I tried the reset by pushhing the vent in 6 times, ect and it did move the little 0.8" but that was it.

Problem is it's stuck down about 1". Anyway to manually get it closed until I have the time to check the relays and all to see what part went bad and replace it?

Thanks!

Here are the steps from the Shop manual

1: Start with the ignition key in the OFF position

2: turn the ignition Key to the ON position

3: Press the rear glass control switch vent button 6 times

4: Turn the ignition key to the OFF position

5: Press the rear glass control switch vent button 6 more times

6: turn the ignition to the ON position. at this point the rear window will move up and down approximatley 20mm (0.8 in). this movement signifies that the rear window glass motor has entered into the initialization mode

7: NOTE: the rear window glass control switch must be held in the UP or DOWN position until the window glass stops moving. failure to hold the switch will end the initialization operation. then the initialization will have to be re-started.

Hold the rear window glass control switch in the full UP position until the rear window glass stops in the full up posistion

this is taken right from the Ford Sport Trac Shop Manual for a 2001

This needs to be done anytime the motor or switch is disconnected.

Don't know if Sal covered it, BUT can you HOLD the button in the up position and bypass everything and see if it closes ??

Tried all of those tricks and nothing worked.

It does do the little movement after the reset steps but that's about it.

I'll have to check this weekend with my meter and see where things are going wrong.

Just hate to leave the window cracked open a bit tlike that.

Thanks,

Erick

If the Above reset doesnt work.. then most likely your Motor is shot..

I would unplug it do the reset and follow the Proceedures I have listed.

These will tell you if the motor or the switch is shot.

Let us know..

I'll check it this weekend and report back.

Any tips on how to replace the motor if that's the cause of it?

Cheapest place to pick one up?

Thanks,

Erick
