I just installed a set of backup lights under the rear bumper. I attached them to my hitch and am set to go except one small problem, I don't know what color the wire to tap into to make them come on with my reverse lights. Can anyone tell me which wire it is? thanks!

Pull the light housing off. Locate the back-up bulb. Using a multi meter, clip one side to a ground and the other to one of the wires. If it shows 12 volts, you have the right wire. If it doesn't, check the other.

I realy do need to get around to buying a multi meter. I had it on my christmas wishlist but I guess I was bad last year :p. Anyway, Is it a switched ground or a switched hot? the ground wire I used is short and I have a spot to connect it already. If it's a switched ground then won't I have to run that wire all the way up to the existing reverse lights also?

It's a switched hot.
