I never realized he was that old (82), and that his first steps on the Moon were over 42 years ago?? It only feels like the Moon landing was only about 20 years ago...amazing how time flies as you get older.
He was a great man and a great American.

Actually, over 43 years ago. I'm now 42, and I was born one year (give or take about eight hours) after he took that first walk, so 7/20/69 is an easy date for me to remember. RIP Neil...

You are correct. It was in July of 1969. I forgot to include the fact that we have already past July 2012....DUH
I was in the Army stationed in Heidelberg, Germany and the date there was July 21st...so what happened in prime-time in the US was the wee hours of the next morning in central Europe.
