rpm question

hey folks quick question, when my st is in park it idles around 500 or so,when I put it in drive and I'm iding at light,etc it's right around 8-900 rpm, is this right ?,please advise

No this isnt right, sounds liek your advance is messed up. Might want to get it checked out.

The rpms will increase in drive to keep the engine running, But not that high...



I think you may want to reset the computer via disconnecting the battery and /or clean the IAC motor....

Sounds a little high, Mine is more 700 or so, BUT the tach needle could have ben installed differently from your dash to mine, The trucks could be idling at the same rpm...

Mine idles between 500-600, in gear or not. :huh:

looked in my service records, they replaced the iac last year?,this morning the idle was around 700 or so when I stopped at a light,sound better ?

Yup, seems fine now....

I'm still going to look at the iac ,jsut to be on the safe side,seems to be a sporadic issue
