Running Boards

I have a 2001 Sport Trac and the running boards are rusting off. I have contacted Ford and they tell me "too bad". Any ideas? I am sure others have experienced this problem.

Take them off while you still can, before the bolts rust so much that they become permanent.

I have a 2001 also and have the same problem, and i can't find any to replace them.

Yup same issue here, took my rusted boards off yesterday,and had an issue with 1 bolt clip breaking and then the bolt spins so it could not be easily removed. My options were to try to chisel it but opted for brute force and stepped it off. Not pretty but saved alot of time and anguish. I doubt I'll add any running boards as I've always just stepped into the cab without using the step. Actually my red Trac looks ok without the rust bucket boards anyway, since the bodys in very good shape.
