Very sloppy video, proves nothing to any conspiracies theories. Actually helps them...

I suppose you would had to see it in person.

You know the military is volunteer, right? You ever talk to a soldier? I have friends over there and they all want to be there because they know it's the right thing.

What's easy is not always right, and what's right is not always easy.

I agree with lasik1 even though I voted for Bush and was not against the war in the beginning. This whole Iraq thing has become a fiasco. We won the war a long time ago. We're just peacekeepers now for a bunch of idiots. As for the soldiers being volunteers, I have the up-most respect for them but most did not expect to be stuck there for as long as they have.

This may be true, but it hasn't stopped people like my wife's cousin's husband (who I know very well) for going over to the sandbox a FIFTH time voulentarily. He was ordered there (1) time and asked to go back the rest. He's heading out in May (I believe) for 18 months. Did I mention that his wife (my wife's cousin) is due in April? And he still wants to go.

My brother in law is in the reserves. His unit expects to be activated in April to go "somewhere". He's looking for to going to some degree.

Not worth 3000 of our soldiers.....

Guess the American Revolution wasn't either - - 25,324

Guess the War of 1812 wasn't either - - 2,260

Mexican/American War - - 13,283

Civil War - - 863,153

Spanish/American War - - 2,446

World War I - - 116,516

World War II - - 405,399

Korea - - 54,246

Vietnam - - 56,244

Panama - - 23

Gulf War I - - 148

Gulf War II - - 3,004 (as of 1/1/07)

Let's look at some significant battles in American History:

-Antietam - - 3,620

-Gettyburg - - 7,058

-Pearl Harbor - - 2,403

-Iwo Jima - - ~7,000

-D-Day - - ~2,500

So, as a war, the Iraq War (Gulf War II) ranks as #5 of the Top 12 conflicts in US History. It will take more than 10,000 more US Soldier deaths to make it #6. We've had at least 3 major BATTLES that killed more Americans than this entire war has.

Bill Clinton lost 18 soldiers and couldn't hack it. He pulled the troops out of Somalia and the warlords proceeded to kill an estimated 1,000,000 people in waves of Ethnic Cleansing...

Prospective Please. Our soldiers are not naive. Most who are in the service know that when deployed they may be in theater for years. It's taken more than 60 years and we're still in Germany, Poland (Thanks NelsonOKC) and Japan.

That's reality.

R Shek, now go through the list and for each of those wars please list which ones had the US fighting for its freedom and it's way of life? In other words, which were wars, that if not won by us would have us living a different life, with different freedoms and liberties today?

Regretably, it seems we haven't fought wars like that in a while (WWII might have been the last).

Isn't that the truth TJR. Vietnam, as it turned out, was not worth 1 life and Iraq is turning into another Vietnam. By that I mean a war that cannot be won. Don't get me confused as some peace loving liberal. If our politicians would let the armed services fight their own war and just blow up every muzzie in the mid-east, then I would be 100% for it.

Same here, TomT. I'm no tree-hugging lib either, and I think war "can" be a necessary evil. But since it is evil, it really should be a last resort, when one's back is against the wall and your life and way of life is truly threatened.

Just my little opinion . .

I served a total of 23 months in Iraq . . . and saw some pretty crappy things. I believe that something needed to be done about Saddam and the way the people in Iraq were living. It's not a poor country but the people were living in poverty and fear. I do believe the reasons given for our invasion were wrong, but something needed to be done. There was no exit strategy and still isn't. The Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police are not getting any better as the media is led to believe, and the insurgency is worsening. . . Don't know how to fix it, but I got out of the Active Duty Army because we already have been told we are going back for another year this fall . . Enough for me... Glad Saddam is gone and hope no other troops die or get maimed . .

Amen to that and we appreciate your service Ryan. I still have a cousin other there. He was supposed to be home for X-Mas but they pushed his stay back another 6 months. If something isn't done soon, I'm afraid he will be stuck there indefinitely.

Thanks for your service, Ryan. There are a-hole dictators all over the world. The big difference between Saddam and the rest is that we put that guy in power. We propped him up, we should have cleaned house much sooner, back when things were on friendlier terms and it could have been done covertly.

Actually, we are re-entering Poland after an absence of about 60 years. There are only a handful of Americans here and we are helping set up a NATO training center. I am the first in the Air Force to arrive and there hasn't been an Airman here since the days of the Army Air Corps. I think it is kind of special...of course people have been saying I was "special" for a long time.
