Seat belt retraction

My 2005 Sport Trac doesn't have a lot that annoys me -- I've fixed most things that were a problem. But now it's the driver's seat belt. The damned thing just doesn't retract very well, and needless to say it's usually hanging in the door frame when I'm getting out.

Just to help me cut to the chase, can anyone suggest an easy remedy?

Aloha Gus, 'never had that problem but maybe some lubricant would help. Do you live in a humid area?

I had the same problem and the dealer a fix it years ago. Now it is acting up again. The biggest issue for me is often I close the door on the metal piece. Over time this chipped the paint on the door and living in the NE it has now begun to rust.
