Pricing on most sites does use your zip code. I live 2 miles away from the nations largest auto auction.Thier are car lots every where around here !In a 25 mile radis I have 12 FORD Dealers !! Cars.com is another site that I use.

Good luck !

TracNBlack, My 96 blazer had to have it's alternator replaced after 31K miles. Sure, not over a $1000 repair, and still under warranty, but the service tech said: "Yup, 30,000 miles, that's about right...and better than most!"

Seems there was a dry bearing problem in that alternator that causes it to overheat and the heating caused a voltage reg to burn out. A very common problem.

But, like most American car companies, Chevy in their infinite wisdom figured "why change it...the consumer expects little things like this!"

Or, the head gaskets the blew in my 89 GMC S-15 at 55K miles....I babied that thing. Same vehicle as yours. Poor design...gaskets in the heads too thin.

eBay is a great venue for selling cars, especially if your local region has depressed car sales. Many are willing to drive several hundreds of miles to get a good deal on a used car.

Set your starting price at your minimum local sales price you would want, set up a two week auction, take LOTS of pictures for the auction and describe the vehicle WELL, and it just might sell for more than you think you can get locally.

Remember though, eBay takes its cut.

Again, I am sorry to hear about the vibration. Like I said, I have the same one. No offense, but screw your dealer. You don't have the warranty anymore, just tell him to put in the new transaxle and be done with it. I hate the little breaks and creaks that comes around when an ST ages, but I put up with whatever I can. I fix what I can to save labor costs, but spend what I need to spend to keep the ST on the road. Either way, it is ALOT cheaper than a new car payment.

Tommy

P.S. I have had my upper and lower control arms and ball joints replaced. Didn't stop the highway vibration, but I wasn't trying to fix it. In my opinion, it is the Transaxle. (sorry for the redundancy)

I've still got vibration on my '03 Adrenaline, even though I've replaced the tires and had the dealer install the TSB aluminum driveshaft.

Dealer says nothing is wrong.

Vibration and wind noise are really noticable, especially after driving my Dad's Ridgeline.

Also, my cloth seats are nearly worn through at only 43,000 miles. The steering wheel leather is dried and faded. I have paint peeling off my tailgate. The underhood fiberglass insulation is shredding apart and drooping into the engine. There are some rattles in the rear seat area.

I want to think US automakers have improved their quality, but the evidence isn't very strong.

At least my SportTrac hasn't rusted through like the Ford Country Squire station wagons and Pintos and Mustangs all did after three years.

They may have done something different in the next few model years. Mine started rusting a few years ago. I'll have to snap some pix. Everywhere there's a hole in the bar for the rubber pad to snap into, big 'ol rust spot.

Do what I did with my '04 F150-Go Ebay- start at $100 and sell with NO RESERVE- it takes some guts but the result should be final and fast. I got $2000 more than I expected and the no reserve auction brought out the real buyers.......sure beats wasting time w/tire kickers and those who wanted me to finance it.
