for sure ford, chevy are doing well.

hyundai and kia have come a long way.

the jap mfg's are still rebounding from the earthquake. by year end they should be back to norm.

Eddie,

I assume those are only "Sales in the USA" and not worldwide. A chart of worldwide sales would look very different.

Gary,

I dont know about other ports, but. The port of Houston is still flooded with acres and acres of cars from japan. one area is specific to toy',niss' and mistu'. Drove by it a few days ago. I was suprised that the stock was still so large. It actually looked normal to me, full.

I would have thought it would be dwindling by now. Seems that maybe more people are buying American....

in some area's the recovery is better due to less of a demand for "imports".

Your comment makes absolutly no sense. If Toy and Honda are not selling cars in some areas and they have a surpluss in others, wouldn't you think they would ship these cars to the areas that have a greater demand?

Duh!

Tom

Caymen,

NO...they don't ship them to other locations. The dealerships order the cars in advance and it's their job to sell them. If they have a lot of excess they will often trade or sell cars to other dealerships, but they rarely make any profit on these sales.

It is a big misconception that the Automakers distribute new vehicles across the nation based on sales in that region. The dealers order their own showroom/lot stock with the accessories and even colors they think they can sell. Yes, occasionally the automaker will throw in a few excess vehicles that the dealership did not order, but that is often done in the early part of the model year.

I know of dealers in Texas that never had any Sport Tracs, and when I asked I was told that they refused to stock any Sport Trac because they could not sell them??

Same old ******* Caymen!

caymen is back

you all forget he knows it all

tom,

how often do you order vehicles?

based on your vast knowledge, i am sorry i am incorrect :bwahaha:

I agree with Rich's car assessment. I had a similar conversation with a local dealer on the topic a few years back and that in essence was what was shared to me at the time. Carey works for a new car dealer and he concurs. The assault on Rich was uncalled for.

typical tom. no knowledge. again he ran off and hides.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your support in this unwarranted attack from Caymen.

I think we all know that this is just vintage Caymen BS. He will attack and insult anyone who dares to disagrees with him and then runs off to hide. He never engages in any intelligent dialog, never has any facts or even any logic to back up any of his outragious statements. When he is cornered or gets caught up in his own BS, he will try to wiggle out by saying he was just kidding, it was a joke, or use some other bogus excuse. He has never been man enough to say he was wrong.... That's probably why most people here do not have much respect for him. I really think the guy has some sort of socialpathic issues and needs to seek some help.

I am glad that I am not the only one who can see through Caymen's BS.

I dont know what happened to him. When I first joined the board. He was very infomative and helpfull, to other members. The only major arguments were, his supporting unions. I supported unions in some ways other ways I didnt.

Anyway he changed IMO. Now it is crap spewing, name calling. Good knowledge from him is far and few. I think it was shortly after he got married, when it started. Maybe the home front isnt good. Just guessing...

Eddie,

Thanks for your comments. I always thought Caymen was a good guy that somehow got off track and perhaps had some anger issues?? I tried to make friends with him several times and was slapped in the face for my efforts. I met him several times at a few of the national meets in Louisville and he seems like a very nice guy and has been a major contributor of knolwedge to this website...but over the past few years he seems so different when he gets online and can hide behind his Caymen alias?? I certainly hope he realizes that he is not doing himself any justice by acting the way he does. I know he is a better person that he is showing on this site
