the hesitation when accelerating is one of the symptoms of P0193..
it could be many things (bad fuel pump or filter, wiring etc) but often it is the sensor as swshawaii says.
I have the 2004 and P0193 was the sensor on mine, replaced it and all the stutters etc went away. It's a fairly simple job, pull off the hose, push down on little tab and unclip electrical connector, unscrew two T30 torx bits. Remove and replace.

Thank you. Where did you find the part? I know can’t go to Ford because the trucks more than 10 years old and Amazon is really iffy because I bought some parts on there before and didn’t work for my truck so just wondering where would be a good place to get that part.

Bosch 0261230093 fuel pressure sensor is an EXACT fit for your Sport Trac.

2004 and 2005 model years are the same with no significant changes made.

So that’s the only part I’m looking at buying. Will I have to get a new fuel filter even though it’s only a month or so old?

No fuel filter needed unless you used bad gas. No gasket needed. Very quick and easy job.

Hopefully it's not a dying fuel pump, but please don't overthink this.

I bought the Bosch part that swshawaii linked to, from RockAuto dot com. So far RockAuto has had every part I've needed for the Sport Trac at a fair price. Sometimes you can find parts cheaper at Amazon, but I don't like Amazon ;-)

I understand. Amazon is hit or miss with auto parts. I replaced a door lock actuator on my wife's Toyota and while it works, the door now vibrates and makes a "thunk" noise when you shut it.

Thanks for the update and I don't blame you for having it checked out. My mechanic told me to have a transmission shop check it out.

If it IS the sensor, that part is cheaper than paying a transmission diagnostic fee here.

Amazon and ebay have been known to have motorcraft parts, that are frauds. I read an article with pics. Shown the fake packaging vs the real.

Just threw P0193 code at O'Reilly's, report says, "Code P0193 indicates that the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor had high voltage input for a predetermined period of time." No idea what that means... But most likely solution according to the report and worker was to replace the Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) Sensor ($89? or $35 on Amazon). a. does this sound reasonable? b. where is it located? and c. is it an easy fix I can do myself... (my old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools). Is this the same as a Bosch 0261230093 Original Equipment Fuel Pressure Sensor? Thanks.

Check fitment for your vehicle BEFORE ordering. Amazon guide shows 2004-05 Sport Tracs only.

Thanks. This is weird, I called Ford here in San Diego, they quoted me a price for the part of $159.45! Ebay has what appears to be new in the original Ford/Motorcraft plastic bag, part # showing on label, for just under $18, free shipping in under a week. He looked at them on the internet, and said, "I guess you can't go wrong, if it doesn't work you're only out $18, and they've not difficult to change". Any thoughts? Seem almost too good to be true.

Hi Marie, my '04 trac looks like your '04 trac, but I'm 2wd. Did you buy a replacement Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor, and if so, how did the part work out? I just threw code P0193; Ebay has replacements for $18, looks brand new sealed in the Ford bag, but my San Diego Ford dealer says if I want to buy just the part they charge $159.45.... thanks.
