Just saw this on MSNMoney a little while ago. I remember my dad used to have an Amoco station when I was very young.

I know the owner of the local BP here in my little town that's on a major thoroughfare between the Twin Cities and northern Wisconsin. Business was off a bit during the spill, but a day or two after the leak was capped, he reported that business was back to normal, if not improved. I buy my gas there and I stop in a couple times a day to buy pop and other goodies. His station IS busier lately.

I'm hoping that people realize that BP stations and stores are locally-owned in most cases.

I always thought that it was a bad idea to rebrand them AWAY from Amoco in the first place. At least in this part of the country, Amoco's were everywhere, well-known, and respected; and BP was completely unheard of. Was that way until, I'm guessing, 7 to 10 years ago. Never really understood why they didn't just keep dual regionalized brands, the way Speedway/SuperAmerica or Hardee's/Carl's Jr. have...

Maybe they liked the name...BP=Big Plug, BP=Big polluters?,

There was an F-15 pilot in our unit, he was shorty stocky fellow but a nice guy, they nicknamed him "Butt Plug" for some reason...:bwahaha:

The local radio stations have commercials talking about that all BP stations in the area are locally owned and operated and everyone should continue to support BP no matter what.

We filled up at BP just today. Needed some batteries for my new toy and while I was there I asked the guy behind the counter what the batteries cost. His answer? "Too much!" Right behind me is a Big Lots. Get your batteries cheaper there.

Nice guy. I am from out of town and he helped me out.
