Smart car coming to the States...

Surprisingly, the smart cars are safer than a lot of full size cars out there. I was reading an article where they were comparing getting t-boned in a full size car vs the smart car and surprisingly, the Smart car came out with a much better rating.



The reason they gave is that since the car has such a short wheelbase, when in a t-bone collision at least one of the tires will be hit. The suspension then collapses and absorbs most of the force from the collision, leaving the passanger compartment in one piece. The article said Mercedes got the idea from formula one race cars.



Too bad I'm addicted to my ST and have have the motrcycle for when gas prices get me down :lol:
