Well, after a very dismal year, I'm closing my locksmith store the 15th of this month. A2Z Key & Lock Shop is going down the path of non-existence. I will still be working full time with my Carolina Lock & Key Van and I will still be supporting the site with keys and such, but now everything will be as it was a year ago. Just me and my van. Thanks for the support I've gotten at the shop and my services will continue as before.

Good luck to you. Sometimes it is more profitable to stay small and focused on one thing that you do really well. Many businesses are going away from the traditional "Brick and Mortar" business model. The overhead is too high to justify a physical address. Virtual, online stores are the wave of the future, and for your service the mobile van is perfect.

Sad to say, Lowes, Home Depot and Wal-Mart is hurting traditional lock shops like yours. People really don't look for quality in these items, they just want something cheap to keep the honest people out of their houses. Dishonest people will still just kick in the door or throw a brick through the window.

With your attitude, service and quality your downsized business will thrive. Having a brick and mortar shop is very, very difficult these days. I'm sorry that side of the business didn't succeed but I suspect your mobile operation will be fine. Best of luck with your reorganized business.

Thanks again for the service and products I've received from you.

Glad to see your not giving up on the whole thing.....

I am sorry to hear about this, But wish you the best of luck with the parent company....

LaRue, sorry you gotta close the shop.

Hey, I'm in the process of buying new locks for the house. Since your the expert, can you advise me what locks (manufactures) I should look at and what locks I should stay away from?

Sorry about that- hope it wasn't too expensive and you learned some things of value. I have endured several failed ventures- the latest was my Botox salon- and always gained some insights for later use....

Thanks everyone. The van is where I make most of the income anyway. It has only gotten better over the past 4 years. Let's hope this will be a healthy "trend"

lasik1, I bought everything through my main company, so I can still use 90% of what I have. Tax write off eiither way.

Tom T,, send me an email and tell what you want to do. I sent a house-full of replacement locks to someone here a few months ago. I keyed them up and mailed them out. Saved him some money. Maybe I can save you some.. I know you can put in a deadbolt and a lock...;)

best of luck

Sorry about the shop but it sounds like you are successful with your mobile lock service.

I have a question you may be able to answer, do you know if there is a key availible for the ST that has the remote integrated like some other cars? I heard the lincolns will get that this year and I was thinking they could be programmed to work with my ST.
