Hi all!

I was in Walmart last night and they had the Bosch Double Tip Platinum plugs (2 pack) for $3.42, buy one get one. They are regular priced $7.89 or something close to that. They have on the packaging that they do not need to be Gapped, that they are pre-gapped by the manufacture.

Are these good plugs for the ST?

From what I've read here and experienced with my son's car, the best plugs for a Ford are Motorcraft OEM plugs. Try something else at you're own risk. The "German" brand plugs in my son's Escort didn't even last for 10K miles before it missed so bad I thought it would just stop running. Put in Motorcraft and it runs like a sewing machine.

No, they are not good plugs for the ST. Bosch's are not a good match with the late-model Ford ignition, many people on the other boards I'm on report that the plugs on one bank last less than 10,000 miles.

Problem is the plugs on one bank fire from tip to electrode and on the other bank from electrode to tip, which the Bosch's don't like much.

Use Motorcraft or Autolite double platinums.

Autolite double plats for ~$30 from rockauto.com here, no issues, tune up was worth it.

Alrighty then, 'nuff said.

I won't be buying those then. I was kinda wondering why they were marked down so cheap.

Ditto with JohnnyO. Bosch is the absolute LAST plug you put in newer Fords. Stick with Motorcraft plugs. I personally went with the Nippondenso Iridium plugs. They run about $13 each, but they are good for 1,000,000 miles(no that's not a typo), they burn hotter for better gas milage and I noticed they were installed the second I hit the accelerator.

Todd, I have nippondenso plugs and they run great. I will be removing them soon to install a Jacobs milemaster. The plugs are too easy to fire and do not work well with the Jacobs ignition. I will be using copper Autolites with the system.
