Hey guys,

I just bought some subs and an amp for them.

I also wanna buy new speakers for the truck and a new in-dash stereo.

If I buy new speakers will I be better off just getting another small amp for the speakers or will the in-dash be enough to power the speakers?

thanks

Anthony

In-dash will typically be enough. Get some decent speakers that don't get muddy and a decent deck that puts out steady watts and you'll be fine.

Depends on what YOU want. I have Kicker 6x8's (50W) being run just by my factory HU and they sound great. If you want the speakers to just run off the HU, then make sure they have a low wattage rating. You don't need to hook up 1000 Watt speakers if your HU is only putting out 50W. (unless of course you are hooking up an amp) My subs (1 8" and 1 10" being run by one 300W x 2 amp) are adjusted that they don't drown out the speakers in the doors. They compliment them very well even at loud settings. (enough to make my hair and hats move with the bass);)

If your sub is overpowering your midrange and highs, then it might be best to get a separte amp. I went ahead and picked up a 4CH 40x4 amp for my door speakers and of course a separate amp for the 10" sub. I am definitely glad I did. My door speakers are 3-ways and my HU has a 7 band eq. I still feel at times I want to add dome tweeters for more clear highs. I'm somewhat of an audiophile though.

If you want the sound loud, then you should definitely get an amp just for the speakers. If you don't, then when you turn up the volume, everything will become distorted and sound like crap, and you could end up blowing a speaker like I did. But if you don't care about being loud and are only going to listen at medium volume (or so), then the head unit will be enough.

Do you know what speakers you are going to buy?

By the way, what subs did you end up buying, and what amp did you decide on?
