Aloha guys, when my computer boots, it asks if I want to start in Windows XP Home edition or Windows XP Media Center Edition. I always start in home edition, how can I get the thing to ignore the media center part?

Tks Ed

go to start>my computer and right click on my computer. on the screen that comes up look on left side for advanced system settings and click on it. a system properties window will open. click on the tab that says advanced. at the bottom it should say Start up and recovery click on settings. the next window says system start-up in the drop down select the windows xp os you want and under it uncheck how long to display operating systems.

reboot.

Tks Bob K, it worked! Would you know how to look into a system that lights the monitor button green for a second or so and then goes to amber again? Might that be a power supply?

God bless Ed

Ed, my monitor was doing that and it turned out to be bad capacitors. Not cost effective to fix so I had to get another monitor.

LaRue, the monitor works fine with another computer. So it must be the first one.

does the first computer even start? does it have a onboard video card and a extra video card? onboard being up near the mouse and keyboard plugins. a extra one being down near the bottom of the box.

Aloha BobK, now I am getting confused. This computer that I am typing on, is the one that you helped me with the operating systems. The other one (2) will not start. When I push the start button, the light on the monitor turns green for about 2-3 seconds and then goes back to amber. I am thinking that it will come on but the power supply quits right away and the light on the monitor goes out. Is this a sensible thought or should I look somewhere else.

Tks and God bless Ed

Thanks BobK, I can start there
