Steering wheel buttons melting

Does anyone else have a problem with the steering wheel cruise control buttons melting???? I have very dark tint and I put a sun shade up on my windshield when parked in the hot Florida sun, but they still melt and get sticky, eventually cracking and falling off.



Does anybody have a solution for this problem???



I saw these chrome covers (see link below) on a Mustang before, but I'm not sure if they would fit a ST. Anyone know if they're the same size?????

I didn't think ours (Sport Trac) buttons popped out. I thought it was more involved to remove them.

Also, I didn't see any mention of lights, like ours have.

That happened with my '01...had to replace the harness...got it from Rock Auto from much less than what dealer charged.
