Steering wheel color

While at the dealership today, I saw an 05 XLS with grey interior which had a dark gray/black steering wheel and column. It was definitely darker than the rest of the gray finish of the dash/instrument panel. I have an 04 with gray interior and the steering wheel and column matches the rest of the trim exactly. I'm just wondering if all the 05s with gray interior come with the darker steering assembly.

Don't think so, Flip. The XLSs don't come with a color-matched leather-wrapped steering wheel. My 05 XLT does, and the steering column matches the rest of it (if memory serves).

Bahb is right on the money, the XLS's come with the black steering column and steering wheel, while all others have colormatched stuff.

I actually like the black wheel and column over color matched...the black serves to 'hide' the bulkiness of the column, while color matched just reminds you that it's there more easily.
