or as the Renegades say: "Drum Corps is EVIL!"

BTW all I was a CONCORD Blue Devil in the late 70's early 80's, Played Contra Bass Bugle Still go out and watch practice once in awhile

Any one else an old Corps member?

I will be going to Precision West in Pleastant Hill, CA this year.

Reminder: Next Thurs 4/27 is the theater telecast for drum corps, the 2006 Classic Countdown, drum corps on a theater widescreen! Link below has theater locations (across the US) and a cool little video clip.

For y'all who haven't heard of it, it's musical sport, and America's best kept secret. They're expecting sell-out's so best to get tix online prior to the 27th.

Rock on,

R

Hey R, I used to follow DCI closely and for a couple of years the championships were here in Orlando. If they have the championships here again and you get brave and want to take a mini-vacation, let me know. I'll go out there again for the show.

Being a percussionist and keyboardist, I followed DCI especially hard in High School and college. I was going to be playing for the Velvet Knights until financial hardship cut that short. At one point there were 11 members of my small high school marching band playing for them (1994). Nearly half of the San Diego Earthquakes (Class B) came from my High School when they started in 1996.

I'm hoping that my daugther will get interested in either music or flag corps (my wife was a flaggette in high school and college)... not that I want to relive my childhood through her but... she is of course only 19 months old though, but a damn fine percussionist on the pots and pans.

Lou,

They were a little before my time :)

I am familiar with some of Bill Medinas work.

Here is a link with more information about the Hawks.

Funny thing out here in the Bay area People are like "Drum Corps What that?" And we are Home to two of the winninest Drum Corps in the History of DCI (The Blue Devils And The Sanata Clara Vangard). When I was on tour with the Blue Devils back east we would actually have peolple and kids running up to us to get our autographs...:cool:

Me:

MN Brass '94, baritone

Lakeshoremen '06, baritone (new group in Detroit)

Did HS/college marching bands...never marched junior corps, had to commit to my engineering internships. :-( I really wanted to march Regiment...closest thing I got to that was marching w/ 2 Regiment alums (they were in PR '91, '92, '93).

;)

You guys ROCK - 2007 DCI in Pasadena will be a COOL DEAL. I'd better bring my surfer shorts and vball net!!!

Imagine that: A Trac-fest tailgate at the Rose Bowl!!!

:p

Okay, this is official, and only for those who have NEVER seen a drum corps...

If you've not seen DCI and go tonite (Thur. 4/27) to the 2006 DCI Countown...and come back tomorrow to report out on which corps won with the most votes (lineup of corps is based on fan votes), you'll earn yourself an Xplan PIN #. This will be revealed tonite as part of the show.

For a list of theaters in your area, see the following link below.

Game on,

- R
