I was heading over to my customers new bldg. The street they are on was closed due to contruction. So, the detour sent us down a really busy street around 5PM. Bumper to bumper traffic. A driver, can't tell the gender, stomps on the gas to try and beat the car coming and t-bones the other car in the next lane. Causing a huge traffic jam. The west bound traffic had to do a u-turn because traffic was going no where. Real bummer for the Metro Public Buses that were caught in it. The drivers refused to move their cars which made it even worse. It was OM freakin Gosh your not going to try and beat the cars coming on the other side and boom nails the car.

I hate when that happens.

Apparently, so do Legislators in Pennsylvania. A few months ago, a bill passed that says you MUST move your vehicles from the site of an accident, if you are blocking traffic. I'm not positive if the Governor signed it but I believe he did.

Sounds great for keeping the traffic flowing but I worry that someone could lie about whos fault the accident was. The position of the cars no longer will tell the story.

That's why you always take a camera phone or digital picture, or hell, even an old-fashioned

picture, if you have a camera available!!! I believe it is Allstate, that has a policy, or

something, that you can even e-mail them pictures of your accident the minute it happens,

over your cell phone!

Even if technology fails you, always get a liscence #, description of the other car, and the

name of any witnesses, just in case!

We have the same law here in TN., If there was no serious injury or loss of life, you

MUST move your vehicle out of the lanes of traffic. This helps out the flow of traffic,

but may SCREW you ('skuze my French!) if you know that you were not at fault, and

the position of the vehicles, after the accident may show this in your favor.;)

It is ridiculous to leave your vehicle in the street after an accident. Not only does it tie up traffic, it's dangerous to stand in the middle of an intersection.Yesterday I had to drive from NY to Long Island and it took 1 1/2 hous where it normally takes about 45 minutes. I passed 7 seperate fender benders and actually watched one happen infront of me. All the cars where left where the accident happenned. The cops are no help either- one accident took out the middle lane and the cops pulled up in the left and blocked that one too. Now 3 lanes had to squeeze into 1. Why bother having shoulders any more?
