I know some guys out there are runnning 10" subs in the Gen 1 tracs. Does anyone have plans that can be emailed to me to build one. I'm thinking of just running 1 sub. Thanks for the help.

One of our site sponsors makes them. Supporting our sponsors helps keep this site running and free for all of us, so check out what he has to offer!:)

If your intent on doing it yourself, Jeff C used to have details in his library. It's also not that difficult to do it yourself. Can be a learning experience.

Soundoffaudio.com makes a dual 10 and dual 8.

I'm in the process of speccing these out because I have a high end JBL SQ setup from my last vehicle that I'm trying to fit in. Problem is that there is no way I can fit my JBL 1202D subs behind the rear seats. They are JBL's only shallow frame 12" and they still don't fit. The biggest problem is air space. You need s shallow sub that uses very little cubic inches of airspace. I think Kicker makes a pretty good one. I'd probably stay away from Sony and Jenson :)

I'm going to try and mess around with some fiberglass and mdf for a custom enclosure behind the seats. I'm going to be making a frame out of mdf like in the picture below, and then pulling fleece over it all and adding 7 layers of glass on top of it. depending on how much work it might be i'll either take the easy way out and carpet, or finish and paint with the same texture that's on the dash.

i plan to put 2 Exile 10" shallow mounts into it. they have a mounting depth of only 3.5 inches and i heard them in a buddy's car, and they sounded awesome....

You might want to rethink the fiberglass. The front isn't the wierd part in the ST, you can mount the subs flat to a peice of MDF and push the seats back. It's the back of the box that you will get the most benefit from fiberglass.

I had the same questions and at one time was very good at making boxes. this time however I neither had the time or effort to make a box so I got a Bazooka 100 watt 8" sub. I put it under the seat 60/40 on the 60 side and I am very impressed with the sound. It took 25min from the time I left the store to listening to tunes. If you want the neighbors three streets downto hear you go with the twin 10's but if you want some more bass and not a huge price tag look into this option.

p.s. I have previously switched to a pioneer head unit DEH-3000IB so I could listent to my MP3 player in the PDA and the head unit has an active crossover and rear sub preamp outputs which helps.
