So I've been having issues with my Trac stalling only in reverse.. I tried many of the little fixes and checks to ensure it wasn't anything I could fix before I gave into the dealer....
I got the call from them an hour ago and the mechanic told me that my sport trac needs a transmission service and the pcm needs to be reflashed.
Now.. I asked him 3 times.. "are you absolutely certain this is the cause of the problem?" and he replied with "Yes" each time..
I changed my trans fuild and filter about 10 months ago.. I even installed the trans pan drain plug while i did this.. I know my tranny fluid was totally clean as it was one of the things I checked when this problem started...
I also disconnected the battery and flashed my trac back to stock 3 times with my Xcal2.. so you might see why I am a bit skeptical.
Is there something the dealer can do more with flashing the pcm over me flashing it with my xcal2?
The estimate is 350 dollars to do the trans service, pcm flash and diagnosis.
