This is the first spring for the ST and the first test in the mud. Although I hated to get it all dirty it was fun. Today while all you were stuck at work I was out playing. I got up this morning and decided to try to get into one of my favorite lakes for some last chance ice fishing. I didn't know if I could even get in the road or if there would be enough ice but I loaded up the ST and headed out. It was a great day. The road was really muddy in some spots and icy and snowy in others with wash outs and snow drifts but the ST did great. It was a fun ride, about 10 miles on woods road in from the highway. There was still plenty of ice, about 16 inches, and it was a great relaxing day. I only caught a few fish but it was well worth the trip. So now here I am stuck at work trying to keep my eyes open because I was fishing when I should of been sleeping. Here are a few pics from today.

hell yea! thats what i like to see! lets see some pics of the fish! i cant wait to get the rod and reel out again...i think the sleep sacrafice was worth it!

I had to walk about 1/2 mile into and across the lake where I fish and I forgot the camera in the truck. I mainly catch and release unless someone specifically wants the fish so this time I threw them back. I caught 3 perch, 1 splake and a pickerel. It was worth the sleep sacrafice for sure, such a great day to just sit by the lake. There were bald eagles all around I wish I had caught a couple more pickerel for them and I wish I had the camera with me.

Mike I actually prefer ice fishing to open water, for one because there are no mosquitoes and blackflys, from late May to early July it is almost impossible to fish around around here because they drive you crazy. I will do a little open water probably first of may including my yearly weekend canoe trip. Must be about time there in CT to start the spring fishing.

Looks like a blast! I do want to go out and play in the mud with the ST, but hate to get it dirty!

Well, that and screw up the paint on it. After a few Chicago winters the paint will be wrecked and I will go play then.

Great pics!!:D

i always forget my camera too. i hate it when i do that. yes its almost time. its beautiful out today (60's) and i wanted to get out there, but im up at school and don't have my gear. i plan on getting it up here soon though. there is a pond next to campus that no one really knows about and it's mostly just some students fishing so its never outfished and never crowded...i cant wait...i know what you mean about the bugs, they are killer. but then again sometime's they help out for the fly fishing! but it's definitely time to get ready! thank god, this winter felt like it was never going to end.
