If you add extra security to the doors, making it more difficult to operate the locks, he still needs to be able to operate them in case of a fire. A double sided deadbolt is a good "extra step," but the key has to be in reach for anyone inside the house.

Seattle it was just the chime to advise the door was breached if it was the actual alarm he may have peed on himself from the alarm being so loud and him being so scared.



Yes Rich thats why we chose the chain. Its simple and if need be he would have to pull the dining room chair closer to the door about 2ft. We will be practicing that with him. Not just for the fire but in case Mom or Dad is unable to make it to the door and he needs to open it for emergency purposes.
