Early 2001's had no classifications, later ones had Value, Volume, and Loaded. These were basically preconfigured option packages, not really the more rigid levels like on today's STs. Basically, the Value had the manual tranny and not much else, Choice had the Sport Group and Convience groups, and the Premium had leather, 6-disc changer and usually a moonroof. There were many more options and could be added to any trim level, like 4x4, cloth group, leather group, cargo cage, bed cover, etc. Although there is no strict "this only comes on this package", posting your options we could figure it out if you really want an idea of what you've got.

The XLS, XLT, and XLT-P started in 2003, although the roots date to the 2002 models with the Value, Choice, and Premium trim levels.

For the 2002 Job 1 models, here is how it broke down.

If you got the Sport Trac Value in either automatic or manual you could get these options:

Options:

4x4 shift on the fly

3.73 Limited Slip Rear Axle

Cargo Cage Bed Extender

Hard Tonneau Cover

Convienence Group

If you got the choice, you could get thses options:

Standard Equipment was the 5 Speed Automatic Transmission and Convenience Group on the Choice

Options:

4x4 shift on the fly

3.73 Limited Slip Rear Axle

4.10 Limited Slip Rear Axle (Requires Premimum Sport Group)

290 Watt Pioneer 6 disk Changer

Cargo Cage Bed Extender

Hard Tonneau Cover

Comfort Group

Premium Sport Group

If you got the Premimum:

Standard Equipment was the 5 Speed Automatic Transmission, Convenience Group, and the Premimum Sport Group on the Premimum.

Options:

4x4 shift on the fly

4.10 Limited Slip Rear Axle

290 Watt Pioneer 6 disk Changer

Cargo Cage Bed Extender

Hard Tonneau Cover

Power Moonroof

Leather Trimed Seats with Driver and Passenger Manual Lumbar.

This was for a 2002 Job 1 Trac.

You didn't say what year your Trac is, but on the later ones an XLS would be pretty bare bones, i.e. no cruise, tilt wheel, or keyless entry and they weren't optional either. A base XLT like mine would have that stuff. An XLT Premium would have fog lights and front tow hooks, the base XLT would not. Just a couple easy ways to spot what you're looking at.

On mine I added the tow hooks later myself. Gonna get 'em chromed soon too. :)

Premium adds to Choice:

Comfort and Convenience Features

leather upholstery, front bucket seats, 6-way power driver seat, rear climate controls, overhead console, outside-temperature indicator, compass

Appearance and Miscellaneous

side step bars, fog lights

Special Purpose, Wheels and Tires

front tow hooks, 255/70R16 all-terrain white-letter tires (Sport Trac), bright cast alloy wheels, 4WD adds: 4-wheel drive, 2-speed transfer case, skid plate (SportTrac), 255/70R16 all-terrain white-letter tires

My '02 has ALL of this except leather seats. The drivers seat is power though.

Could it be a 'Choice' that someone ordered some extras on or something? No biggie, just wondering.

It could still be a Premium. Leather is an OPTION, not standard equipment on any trim level...never has been standard. As an option, you can only get it on the Premium however. That site isn't very accurate in it's listings.

It could easily be a Choice as well, but if you've got a moonroof, you've got a Premium.

I have a 2001 Job 1 Sport Trac.

Here is my window sticker, which has almost all the options. and the diiferent groups.

Hope this helps

Thanks Sal A, mine is a 2001 one as well. Looks like we got the same stuff. I printed the window sticker to put with my manual to just have on file to show what it came with from the factory.

Thanks everyone for all the help and info.

Ron

No doubt now, mine's a Premium. Sweet!

Good color choice Sal A. ;)

I need to find my order paperwork. My 01 (job 2) also had 6 way power cloth seats, rear audio controls and AM/FM/CD/Cassette and a 4:10 NON LS rear end. So many choices.
