Tire Size

Today I went to get new tires put on my mom's car. I talked to the guy about tire sizes for my ST. In his computer it listed two sizes for a ('03 XLT 4x2) 235/70/R16 and 255/70/R16. He said the size would not make a difference in performance, but it does make a difference in the price. The sticker on the door panel calls for the 255s. Should I go by the door panel only?

Like the guy said, it's all about the money. The tire is just a little wider. What ever look you want for the price.

I recently got the 255/70/R16's for my Trac. Had the 235's originally. The 255's look much better. Fills up the wheel well much nicer. Price difference is not that much.

if a trac comes with 235 it most likley have 3:73 rear end gear 255 have 4:10's

I have pics in my library with 235/75's on and 245/75's on. Big difference in looks. You will notice a small loss of performance with the larger tires on. Not enough to worry about though.
