Is there a 6 or 8 ply tire out there made for the Sport Trac. All I have found is a 4 ply tire.

Yes, but you need to have LT tires. I run Kelly Safari Trek tires, 245/70/16 on my trac, because i tow with it. The extra sidewalll really helps the stability The ride is a little harsher than passenger car tires, I run about 30 psi in mine, and air the rears up to 45 while towing...

Do you have to do anything special to use that size of tire?
Yes, you have to adjust the PCM for the Revs per mile for the tire you are using if different from OEM.
