Well here's the story. I finally got my sound system in and my cd deck doubles as a DVD Player. I wanted to get headrest moniters, and found some decent ones that are pre-made and with grey leather (7"). But with todays world, people are more violent and hatred. And being in high school, enemies can be easily made. So it scares me to have these in the ST. So, I was wondering if anyone that has had experienced with having some, or knows someone that has had experienced. Can you tell me what you think? Are these just eye candy, for hatred theft? Thanks in advanced.

here's my input...

if you are planning on putting your car in shows for competition, than go get em...

if you are going at it for eye candy... that really depends how bad you want them...

personaly, one monitor on the dash is good enough for me...

I'd say go for it but dont be like a show off about it. Thats what gets you the bad attention. I plan on getting some for mine and my trucks been keyed twice so I know something about enemies .

Personally I would only put monitors in my vehicle for my son. I haven't done it because we can entertain each other with conversation (he's 21mths so...). I think it's more for show and would definitely be more prone to theft, especially with teens.

Give some money to feed the starving and help the children! Lot's of wasted money could save lives.

Get a good Clifford or Viper alarm with pager so you can keep tabs on your truck. I don't suggest it while still in school, especially if your going to get cocky with it. Keep it to yourself.

get a good alarm that pages you first, and maybe ven see what you can do about getting a local upholstery stoire to make a cover or something to cover up monitors when not in use. Or get the rear windows limo tinted as well so people cant see in.

Boodro, If ya do decide to get them, as others stated-- make sure you get a very good alarm system installed first. HS kids will be jealous thus causing you hassles (even though I Know you would never show off) *he's a great kid folks*

Plus you live in Texas, large state with lots of auto theft. So just protect your investment.

I had considered this option for my kids in the back, but I was unsure what would fit or if it was even possible. Does anyone currently have monitors in the back of their ST seat or headrest? If so, what monitors were used?

Boodro,

Always try to park next to an Island Blue Trac. That way nobody will notice a plain ol' silver ST even with LCD headrests. :p

maybe get the upholstery ship to cut out pieces of matcvhing fabric, and you can velcro them over top when not in use. just an idea

Boodro--Would they actually get used? I usually think of headrest monitors beign for children in the back seat--and based on the fact you're in high school, I'm doubting you have kids (or at least kids old enough to use/appreciate the monitors).

Regardless of theft/vandalism possibilities, I would think that you'd be able to find better usage-for-the-buck use of that money, be it on other ST mods or elsewhere.

I like the idea of the covers for the headrests. I would get a "bag" cut to fit from a upholstery shop or just order some color matched vinyl from an audio install supplier and hot glue them together. Should be simple to make a template, one piece to drape over the front and back, then two side pieces. Fold the edges over for each piece to make a neat seam.

I used to cut off the face of a factory radio to cover my aftermarket head unit. It worked great! I plan on getting a ST head unit from a flood car and cut the face off to cover my nav system.

Read your auto policy carefully for coverage of modifications. Aftermarket stereos and dvd monitors are not usually covered in your car insurance, whether it is theft, flood, fire or collision damge. You may need to buy seperate coverage (policy rider, stated value schedule, etc). for the system. The same is true for other mods like rims, supercharger, custom paint, etc etc. The more expensive the mod, the less likely it is to be covered. I see several people each week come to my auction to swap out rims, remove systems, etc. That is fine if the gear is not damaged. If it is damaged, you are out the money without supplemental coverage.

Wouldn't that suck.

Its your money and your ride do to it what you want, I'm in the process of getting 2 7 in screens put in my headrest. I'm just gonna get dark tint and good alarm.

Thanks all for the Suggestions. I did think about the covers, if I were to get the monitors i was going to get that done before instalation. I do have a Viper alarm with the screen to tell me what has been touched. It is a good alarm, but that doesnt stop many thefts down here. I have thought about and, I think I am going to go ahead and get a Flip Down monitor. Its about $100 cheaper, and its less visible than headrests. What do yall think about gettin one of those? I dont have any enemies (atleast I hope not  ) but, they can be made easy, so I am always gonna be aware. fy10lyny, no one can help to notice your beautiful trac :D, but who could resist mine!!!! :p Thanks again.

p.s.- Thanks for the compliment GM!I know I am a good kid!!! :D :D
