Changed my trans fluid today and installed drain plug. Had to reuse my oem 4x2 pan. Had to cut the snorkel extension off the 4x4 filter.

The 4x4 pan was touching the valve body. Would have never sealed. I even tried it with out the 4x4 filter.

Not sure, but I think the trans shop sold me a pan for a 4R44E trans. Cant take it back. I drilled the hole for the drain plug. Crap....

I did adjust the EPC. Shifts much better. Especialy 2cnd to 3rd. I do have Torries trans program, in my xcal3. It just never was as positive as it should have been.

EDIT; The only part of the pan in the pic. That was deeper than mine. Was the center for the 4x4 filter.

Eddie,

What a bummer !!

Well, at least the pan was not very expensive....it certainly would have been much worse if the pan was like $100+. Maybe they will take it back with the drainplug installed...it still works and the addition of the drainplug is an improvement that someone would pay more for...

Rich,

I did make improovments to the pan. I bead blasted the outside, and sprayed it, with high temp silver paint. Maybe if I seal the hole with a bolt and gasket. Or I could get another drain plug, $3 @ advance auto.

If it is a 4r44e pan. Maybe a member has an early, 4x2, 4 speed explorer or ranger. That would like a different pan.

Bummer Eddie, like RL said, at least it was only $20 and you can resell it.

Who would have known? You now have me considering the EPC Mod.

PowerTrax installed yet?

Steve,

I see the differences in the 2 pans. Notches for the solenoids.

The power-trax is on the burner til thursday. Waiting on an order for new axle seals and c-clips. No one in town stocked them. Weird....

Also thursday will be a cool front. No humidity......

Im going to print a pic of the right one. Take it to the trans shop. Maybe they will make it right.

I would put a drainplug in the hole in the new pan and sell it. Someone might get skeptical if the pan had a hole in it filled with just a nut & bolt?

Update,

Went to the trans shop with a pic of right one. They checked their storage and didnt' have one. So they gave me my $$ back despite the hole. This shop has a good rep. They have been around since I was a teen, some 100yrs ago....:driving:

I might just order one from Torrie. I think it is $60 for new.

I plan on driving a few thousand then dumping it again.

Gavin,

that is a magnet. They are tranferable and can be removed for cleaning.

Maybe some one that installed a PML will sell you theirs...

i sold mine to a member years ago..
