Hi from Guyman, OK. At the suggestion of the motel mgnt. we are taking a little (40 mi.) side trip tomorrow to Mead, Kansas to see the hideout of the Dalton gang. Heather, we will be in Mead by late morning tomorrow.

NelsonOKC, I saw that mookie got you my phone no. Don't know if you tried calling us, but we will be in OKC tomorrow probably by midto late afternoon. So, if getting together for dinner would work for you give us a call. Any suggestions as to where to stay in OKC?

What I have noticed about the gas milage is that when we keep the speed down (because of posted speed limits) to 60 - 65 mph w/ no air conditioning we are getting around 29 mpg which we have done 2x now. We also have done around 21 mpg 2x now doing 80 mph w/ air conditioning on. At this point in our trip I am inclined to think that it is not a fluke. :D

We are at the Lodge USA motel here in Guyman, OK. The number is (580) 338-5431 RM 128

Rodger,

This may only be a rumor, but I heard from sources I cannot reveal that the Dalton gang is not hiding out there any more.

...Rich

Rodger,

This hotel is nice, and is also right at the point where you would reach I-35, assuming you are taking the shortest route between Guymon and OKC. At this hotel, you will be only 3 hours from Dallas. If you get a chance, I suggest you go to Bricktown and the Oklahoma City Memorial while in Oklahoma City.

I will call you tonight or tomorrow. I have some commitments tomorrow night, so I will only be able to see you for a few minutes, most likely on my way home from work (I drive right past that hotel on the way home).

I have several photos of the Memorial posted at this site. These were taken during the OKC Meet this Spring.

P.S. -- Roger, enjoyed talking with you. I hope the schedule will work out tomorrow. :D

Ahh those were the good ole days. Both Bricktown and the Memorial were fun to visit. I'd love to go back sometime.

Rodger and Georgia, I suspect you're traveling through my area on your way down? I'm headed down Thursday.

Good one Rich!

It wouldn't be much of a hideout if everyone knew where it was, would it?

Larry, drop me a line or call if you plan on stopping in OKC on Thursday. I'm thinking about taking the day off to detail the Trac. :)

By the way, Roger (and Georgia) are in OKC. I visited them for a short time on my way home. He has some cool performance mods on his ST. :) I wish I had his gas mileage, but then a manual will always do better than an automatic.

Yeesh, I wish I had that kind of milage. I'm checking in from the Holiday Inn Express in Hurricane Mills, TN. Free WI-FI in the room!

2 Tanks of gas so far:

19.76mpg (gas purchased in NY)

19.41mpg (gas purchased in OH)

I was expecting to get better milage on the gas I purchased in OH since NY has at least 10% ethanol in the gas. My average speed was a bit higher for the second tank, and I was using a/c for the second tank (it was 41 degrees in Buffalo when I left this morning).

I'll see you all at the HoJo sometime tomorrow!
