I've searched around can't find anything about Reverse trouble. I don't have any other slipping or flairing. Need advice before going to a mechanic. 2001 V6, 100,100 miles. No previous trouble with anything. Thanks!!!

Need more info, is this constant or every now and then? Could be a number of things, check the linkage, safety/ neutral switch, fluid, etc. More will chyme in by early morning and we do have certified Ford mechanics on here that are extremely helpful.

The early Gen 1 ST's were known for valve body gaskets cracking over time and leaking, This has caused slow reverse and other issues...

There is a new valve body gasket kit that can be installed.....

I would check the fluid level, last service date and if that is all ok, Then consider a shop to diagnose further

The reason I mention the reverse band is that if there is a seperator plate gasket blown then the trans line pressure drops and there are usually other symptons along with it instead of just no reverse at all.

The bolt falling out of the shift linkage behind the column usually results in a no start becasue the linkage can't be moved all the way into the park position, if there were no reverse becasue of this there would almost have to be a no start condition also....just thinking out loud...

Thanks guys.

It is a constant problem. I have to be careful where I park. If the car is cold I can get a little reverse action, but after I've been driving around I get nothing. Checked the fluids, they are fine. I have not seen any evidence of fluid on the ground.

Just picked up my truck from the transmission shop. Turns out it was a loose reverse band servo cover. So much cheaper than any other option of "it might be"!!!!

Thanks for all the input!:banana::banana::banana:
