The kid has down syndrome, The school "said he could be on the team, and never play" (not a actual quote) It was the last play of the year.... I know quite a few kids/people with this disability, and the pride he will carry will make him so happy. He really won't care if the team "let him win" HE WON. I applaud the two teams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes it is the thought that counts. Letting every kid "win" all the time is stupid, but letting this kid "win" one was admirable. There was zero cost and the result will last a lifetime. I'm sure the kid received immeasurable satisfaction. The show of support from every one probably means more than those "six points" ever will. I think you missed the point RMac.

Not putting this play down, but it seems to happen a lot more these days and I think it's good for these kids. I think there was a kid in a wheelchair last week that scored in a game as well. Even if the kid does know that the other team let him score, he still probably got the adrenaline rush from doing it and it makes him feel like part of the team.

Man, that just warms the heart!! Have seen several of these before when a challenged teammate is given the opportunity to achieve some success. Yeah, the memory will last a lifetime. Saw one where the opposing team were throwing themselves all around the player to give him that "real" sense of accomplishment. Bob

PS: If you want to see the real thing, go to a Special Olympics meet. The smiles are genuine, the competition is real, and these young people/adults are on cloud nine afterwards.
