Also the US Track and Field Team dominated the World Championships at Osaka, Japan. They won 14 Gold medals, 26 total medals. Russia had 4 golds and 16 total. Very impressive.

Soo...how many NBA stars are on Argentina's team? Seriously, I thought pro's were not supposed to be on Olympic teams. Why is an exception made for basketball? They need to reverse that rule and let our college players have a chance to represent us. We have an unfair advantage right now.

Nelson,

We may have an unfair advantage in basketball, but other countries have an unfair economic advantage that is worth more than a basketball title would ever be.

Tom

Pros from the NBA are allowed to play for other countries teams during the off season. So really it isnt an unfair advantage...

We're the most productive workers in the World according to the UN (see link), so how does anyone have an advantage?

Perhaps the sky is also falling??

It WAS an unfair advantage, in favor of other teams, under the old rules that allowed other countries to send their pros (because they were paid by the state) but we weren't allowed to send ours (because they were paid by private teams). Now that everyone gets to send their best players, regardless of professional status, the playing field in many of these sports is finally even.

it's fair ! bill v says it right !

sorry, it is was it is !

tom, yes in fact i just ordered another camry for my fleet. i think i will take my toyota or maybe my nissan or possibly the sport trac to opening night for the new jersey nets ! :D

Hockey is another, NHL players are on the Olympic hockey teams.

SST,

You totally missed the point, as usual.

Things are not fair. Who really gives a crap about Sports? Does it really matter of the USA has "Pro's" playing against other countries that do not have professional teams? Honestly? Does it really make a difference in your life?

Yet, China can get special trade with the USA and is all pissed up because the USA is starting to wise up to the fact that China sells more to the USA than they buy and their goods are ****. China is trying to play "hard ball" with the USA. Therefore, it is an unfair trade relation between the two countries, but nobody really wants to care about that, but OMFG, a pro team playing amateurs.

Who really gives a flying flip?

Tom

tom , i care about sports. so if you say you dont care, i dont understand why you were rooting for the cavaliers to win the nba championship

your right things are not fair, so if an import is built better than a domestic or it rains on your party, so be it and move on !

gary s.,

What I am saying is how does a team winning affect your life? Does it help put food on your table? Does it increase your stock portfolio?

Send ing money overseas to a country that has a trade advantage over you does affect your life. It limits the food on your table. It loweres your investments.

Who really cares about sports? Sure, I would love to see the Cavs win, the Indians win, and the Browns leave town again, but none of those teams affect my life at all. Win or lose, I still get dinner on the table.

Tom

tom,

if toyota sells more vehicles then gm, is it taking food off your table?

it's a double edge sword... toyota builds vehicles in the USA and is employing US citizens , so it is helping our economy. yes on the other hand , US money is going to japan.

we need to learn to adapt and stop complaining about it. as you mentioned , things are not fair. we are a strong nation and need to go back to the drawing board and overcome some of the "unfairness" life deals us.

rob, in new york , betting is illegal
