Last month I spent 1000$ on Rose's A/C,,,, 2 days later,,, 300$ on my van A/C and TODAY,,, Rose's car died!!! Now I have to spend 800$ to replace Rose's throttle body, and replace her instrument cluster. When will it ever end??????????????????:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Hey LaRue,

Sorry to hear about the problem, but I have to agree. It always happens the same way with me...As soon as one thing breaks, there is a cascade of other things that follow..

I think it's odd that the throttle body AND instrument cluster went out at the same time. I don't see any connection between the two and would really question that with the repair shop.

The throttle body is very easy to replace and you can get one online or a local autoparts store for about half the price the dealer would charge and I'm sure you have the skills necessary to remove and install the new part in an hour or less.

The instrument cluster is questionable without more info as to what or why it appears to be broken?

Richard, the car was dead, no throttle response at all. So I had no choice but go to ford, no choice and no money...... Ford says it's a resister cluster or something, they may not have to replace the whole cluster but will have to replace something. ......my bad,,, not the instrument cluster, the temperature control cluster that runs all the air stuff. They say the dash went out because it's all wired together.

As the saying goes, it comes in threes. If it means anything, congratulations, you've reached #3. The end should be in sight!

The last several months in our house, we've been afraid to fix anything that breaks. The reason? "The rule of five." Basically, the rule states that there are perpetually five things broken in our house. The second any of them are fixed, something else will break, to keep the total at five. So when we get to the point where all five of the things currently broken are somewhat tolerable, we're reluctant to fix any of them, as nothing more will break until something else is fixed, and odds are that whatever breaks to fill out the list will be harder to live with broken.

Yeah, I know it's crazy--but so far, it seems to hold true. It's to the point where, whenever something else breaks, we have to figure out what we fixed recently, so we can "blame" the break on the person who fixed the other item and created the void on the five-item list.

:)
