Need help from a 2nd gen ST owner…

I want a second gen 4.0 (I’ve never worked on the V8 the put in the second gens….seems like there would be next to no room under the hood with a V8 stuffed in there)…but anyway my second option is ‘09-‘10 F150 crew cab.

Need help from a 2nd gen ST owner…

Hey folks! I’m an owner of a first gen ST with about 323k miles now….and I’m looking to move into a second gen. My problem though is back seat width. I currently have to tote 2 child seats in the back, and the wife is due in January with the third. So now I gotta get three kid seats across the...

    Which replacment radiator to get

Truthfully, mine sprung a leak probably 6-7 years ago, I got the the two core radiator from Advanced Auto, has been working fine.

    New guy here.

I don’t have a second gen ST (….yet), but the drive shafts are not servicable? Like meaning I can’t drop it if it needed new joints?

    Seat Recline Handle

Mine broke also on the drivers side a year or two back. I’m the only one who drives the Trac it so I don’t use that handle too much as I never really move the seat. But I do like the link on how to effect a repair. Thanks to the poster!

    Weird overheat scenario....

@dvdswan, u nailed it. I thought I had looked thoroughly at both radiator mounts/bolts but after getting the fan and shroud off and out of the way, I saw this (see pic) just rattling on the frame. Not attached anywhere….just trapped by the radiator and engine bay components so it never fell onto...

    Weird overheat scenario....

Thanks for the intel….In was thinking maybe transmission mount was failing and allowing the front of the engine to pitch up, but I didn’t think about the radiator or cab mounts….those are good ideas! Many thanks!

    Weird overheat scenario....

To all, hello again.....I'm back at the well asking for more help/advice from everyone. Grab a cup of coffee though, a lot of "back story" to this one.... I have a 2002 Sport Trac with north of 300,000 miles. I let my son borrow it while he was visiting from Cali the other week, and he called...

Pre/Post timing chain issues of early Gen1

I thought the job1 motor (pretzel intake) was the demon engine to avoid? My ‘02 I currently drive has the revised intake….

Pre/Post timing chain issues of early Gen1

So, I just found a BEAUTIFUL 2001 Trac locally that just cracked 110k on the odometer. Outside, inside, and underneath look fan-freakin-tastic. Place is asking a lot of money for it (which I will have to discuss with them), but it’s got the dang pretzel intake we all hear so much worry over. I...

    Bad engine best option?

Just an FYI, I got my 2002 with about 160k already on it. I’m religious with oil changes, and exercise good preventative care and I’m currently sitting g at 323k miles. Being in NE Ohio, it’s hard to combat the weather so my cab and frame is on their way out due to rust cancer, but I’d drive...

Name that power steering line! Lol

Update….after looking at pictures of the rack and pinion steering on automotive parts websites, looks like that retaining clip holds both lines in place. As such, I should be able to service it without dropping the whole rack assembly!

Name that power steering line! Lol

I figured it was a return line because it’s seeping fluid, not hemorrhaging it like a pressure line would. But it’s bad enough I do need to change it. And yes, that does run from the external oil cooler for the power steering. My concern, though, is servicing this line. It looks like it’s...

Name that power steering line! Lol

Hello all, I have a 2002 sport track. I developed a power steering fluid leak, took a look at it yesterday, and I’m not sure which aspect of the power steering lines this one is. The one that is leaking looks like it press fits into that housing….(it’s the line I marked in red). I can see the...

Center console change, putting 2002 trac console into a 2004 trac

Hey all! Next thing I got cooking here.....I'm on the verge of buying a 2004 Sport Trac with 117K miles to replace my aging 2002 Trac with over 320 miles that just this winter started with the timing chain "death rattle". Its not bad....but I hear it on cold start ups now. The body and frame...

    Ignition tumbler/linkage issue?

So the issue with my ignition was the actuator rod that is buried deep in the steering column. You have to pull the column, disassemble some of it, and then change the actuator rod......lots of work for a small cheap part! lol

    2002 Sport Trac RIP

I’ve got a 2002 also, although right now I’m fighting an ignition tumbler/actuator/switch problem (which I posted a query about on our forum yesterday), once I get that figured out…which I will at some point….Id be interested in that rear brake hardware!

    Ignition tumbler/linkage issue?

Hello all! 2002 ST, 320k miles, 4x4, no codes. The other day I was in a hurry moving the vehicle in the driveway, and I kinda slammed the gear selector into park and quickly shut off the key....but the tumbler would not rotate to the full "off" position allowing me to actually remove the key. I...
