Bought an 03 Eddie Bauer to keep the ST company in the garage. Having a problem with a door sensor. All doors are closed and the interior lights and puddle lights are staying on along with the "door ajar" message on the dash. Did a little checking online and a "quick fix" was to spray wd40 on all door latches. (Assuming that is where the sensor is) Tried it; still have the problem. Anyone else have this problem before? Fixes? Pics? If I cannot or am not technically savvy enough to take care of this myself what is the dealer gonna charge? Thanks

Ford ties the switch to the mechanism. If the wd40 doesnt free it up. It may have a bad switch.

The switch itself is clipped into the bottom of the door latch. Over time the switch gets really sticky and most of the time a good flood of penetrating spray will fix this. When spraying try to spray down into the latch because the switch is in the bottom, spraying into the latch usually doesn't do much good. After words the latch will prpbably need to be worked several times. If this doesn't fix it then just replace the switch, it is very easy to do after the door panel is off.

Thanks all. What do you think? If the door chime quits after the drivers door is closed do you think I can rule that door out and move to the others? Or is the chime separate?
