had my eye on one that has been in the local newspaper that has been listed in the "collectiable cars' section.

302

emerald green/2dr./58K/orig own

anyone have experience with it?

Not a bad car, but I wouldnt call it a collector car... (Just my opinion)

IIRC, they had an issue with the power steering cooler sitting too low and getting hit by road debris... Wow, that was a long time ago!!

And i got that 351 just itching to be stuffed under a hood !!!

My mother in law had one she bought new. After a while it started stalling when she turned either LT or RT(can't remember). FORD couldn't fix it so she traded it on a Cougar(which she had no problems wit). The Granada was a nice looking car though!

My first car was a 1979 4-door with a 250 and JATCO transmission with no power brakes. I would love to find a 1975-1979 2 door with an auto in the floor.

Back in 85 I bought a black 1975 2 door no vinyl roof Granada for $750. It had a 302 with a 3 speed on the floor. Shortly after buying it, I slapped Monroe air shocks in the rear, a posi rear from a 69 XR7, a set of American racing aluminum slotted rims with G 50 14s in the rear.

Slapped a 1 1/2" front Swaybar and a 3/4" rear bar & I removed the 3 speed & replaced it with a 4 speed top loader.

Oh yeah & Caymen is very much correct about the sleeper status of this car. Especially when I stuffed a 428 P.I. under the hood.

That is the only car I regret getting rid of when my ex told me it was time to "grow up"

From personal opinion...FUN CAR. Collectible? IDK about that.

LaRue, I remember seeing a chart at one time.

I think a F was 7.75", metric 196.85. G was 8.25", metric 209.55.

60 would still be profile. 60% of sidewall width is rim to ground.

We had taken one in at the salvage yard that was in great shape, the older couple just didn't want to screw with selling it.

It have the V8 AND,,,, a manual transmission. Pretty rare combination for a Granada...

I learned to drive in a Granada. My high school had it and some of the kids were having trouble getting used to the tight rack and pinion steering. They (and me) overcorrected and ended up on the other side of the road quite a bit.

All I know is that car was practically bulletproof. It was a great first car for a 16 year old. It got me through high school and my first year of college. I kinda wish I still had it. I had put a set of Cragar look-alike Rockets on it. I was running P195-75-14's on it until then. I left the stock size on the front, but went to P205-70-14's on the rear when I put the Rocket wheels on it.

So here's the deal boys and girls.

We have a 78 Granada sitting in our garage. We bought it new and it was my wifes daily driver. She hit a deer with it so we bought the Sportrac.

I fixed the damage on the car and then used it as my race car. Ran pretty consistant times. The car was much better than the driver.

Our granada is licenced as a collecter car in the State of Washington. (over 30 years old) The original spare tire is still in the trunk, never been on the road.

the only work that has been done on the car was a rebuild of the 302 and the deer damage.

I could never keep the oil clean. One day while doing service on the car I noticed that anti freeze was comming out of the drivers side head. So I pulled the engine and had it rebuilt as when I was taking the head off to replace the head gasket I discovered that the head bolts were loose. Apparently they were never tightened from the factory.

I decided to go ahead and do a rebuild just to make everything right. I also threw the 2 barrel carb and manafold in the swap meet pile and installed a 4 barral carb and manafold. It completely woke the car up. Since it was new the car would not spin the tires with the old set up.

I snuck off with the car to the drags, my wife would not have approved. I found that the car would spin the tires when leaveing the line. Came home laughing and smiling.

We plan on giving the car to my Grandaughter if she ever grows up. I'll try to add a photo to this post. Sorry, I have a photo but don't know how to add it to this reply.
