2001 Sport Trac Throttle Body

I am trying to get to the thermostat housing assembly. It has a leak on the back side of the lower section. I have the top half removed, but there is one screw in the back of this housing as well as one of the sensors on the thermostat assy. that just don't have enough clearance to remove without removing the throttle body.



How do I remove this throttle body?



I have most disassembled, but there is a huge section that looks like it all has to be removed.



Is this true. Any links to tutorials? Or Pictures someone could send me via email?

The ones I have found are on newer models and the throttle bodies are nothing of the such.

If I remove this complete section I will have to remove 6-8 torx/star bits does this sound right?



Stuck without a truck right now, any help will be very much appreciated.

A 1/4" universal socket adapter is almost a must have for this project.

Throttle body bottom inboard bolt and lower t-stat housing rear bolt.

Thanks, I was thinking that and I don's have one. That will take care of that, but what about the clearance for the second sensor?

The first sensor came right out. The other won't even lift out but a 1/4" guess I will try harder with the pliers, I just dont want to break that connector, and there isn't enough room to remove the connector either.

I found it easier to lift the housing UP very slightly, pull out the housing,

then remove the connectors. Make sure all hoses are disconnected.

Also, the sensors must be sealed tight in the housing when reassembling.

New sensors or replacement o-rings. If not, they are guaranteed to leak.

Sorry, I need to read posts thoroughly before I reply. You have a 2001 Gen 1 SOHC.

Im a day late on this thread, but. This is a good time to replace the bypass hose. Dont by a AZ cheapy.

For this, use OEM Ford or Motorcraft parts. Too many stories regarding poor fit and build quality.

I was successful in this little project. I have a few pictures as I have read on the internet that many have problems finding these parts. I actually went to the Ford Dealership here in town for the Housing parts and they were reasonably priced compared to what I would have to pay over the internet with shipping and the 3-5 day wait. Ford had them in stock. I bought the sensors from Auto Zone as there was quite a price difference. Details will be posted as soon as I get a chance.
